Camp Missionaries 2004
Gary & Cathy Ramey - IMB Latvia
Project: college student outreach center
Until just a few years ago, Latvia was under the control of a country called The Soviet Union.  The Soviet Union made it very hard for people to be Christians, and they would not allow missionaries to come there.  But God changed that.

Latvia is now a free country again.  And missionaries are welcomed in this small and very cold nation.

Gary and Cathy Ramey, along with their two children, Scott and Carla, were very active in serving God in their home church in the northern suburbs of Houston.  Gary was an environmental scientist with a PhD, and his wife, Cathy, was a medical doctor.  And as important as those jobs are, God had something even more important for them to do.  So, they applied with the International Mission Board (IMB), left their jobs, and learned to speak Russian.

Now the Rameys share Jesus and make disciples all over the nation of Latvia.  And they have never regretted leaving so much behind to serve God as missionaries.

The Preteen Camp mission offering in 2004 was used to lease space in a building right across the street from the university where the Ramey’s wanted to open a student outreach center.
